TRACC offers a range of best practices to be implemented at various levels in the organization. These are grouped into three groups, namely, enabling practices, operations practices and supply chain practices. This article helps you decide at which level of the organization each practice should be implemented, and thus where they best fit in the area tree.
Enabling Practices
The enabling practices are the Value Chain Alignment (VCA) TRACC, Leading and Managing Change (LMC) TRACC, and Human Capital (HC) TRACC. These practices establish best practices across the organization and therefore should be implemented at a strategic level across the business.
Typically, one would see the following implementation strategy:
- VCA and HC TRACCs implemented at a 'Group' or 'Business Unit' level, to ensure it covers the end-to-end Supply Chain. They would usually be implemented by the Executive Leadership Committee (ELC) and supported by a focused Implementation Task Force (ITF).
- LMC can be implemented at multiple levels - Group, Regional or Business Unit, and at Site Level. However, it is recommended that LMC is implemented at a maximum of two levels - at above site, and at site level. It would therefore be applicable to ELC and Site Steering Committee (SSC) teams.
This means that the enabling practices are usually enabled in the TRACC Platform at root level, business unit level, or site level.
Supply Chain Practices
The Supply Chain Practices are typically implemented at a Group, Regional or Business Unit level, as they drive Supply Chain policies, procedures and decision making across the end-to-end Supply Chain. These practices are typically run at ELC level, with a focused ITF for the day-to-day implementation tasks.
This means that the Supply Chain practices are usually enabled in the TRACC Platform at root level or business unit level.
Operations Practices
The Operational Practices can be split into two types - those implemented across the site at the highest level, and those implemented in each production area.
Typically, the following practices would be implemented at a site level:
- Operations Alignment
- Environmental Health and Safety
- Asset Care
- Quality
- Administration Excellence
- Environmental Sustainability
The following practices are implemented in each production area (e.g. Production Line or Process Area):
- 5S
- Focused Improvement
- Visual Management
- Teamwork
- Set Up Time Reduction
- User Driven Maintenance
