How are TRACC assessment maturity scores calculated?
The maturity score for each theme of a TRACC assessment is calculated using an algorithm that makes use of the score for each stage in the theme. The overall maturity for the assessment is then calculated by averaging the theme scores.
Consider the following assessment example:
Step 1
The percentage value for each stage in a theme is calculated by dividing the number of ‘Yes’ answers by the total number of questions in the stage. In this example, three answers of ‘Yes’ out of a total of four questions in Stage 2 of Theme 1 equates to 75% (or a score of 0.75) for the stage.
Step 2
The score for the theme is calculated using this algorithm:
1 +
Stage2 +
Stage2 x Stage3 +
Stage2 x Stage3 x Stage 4 +
Stage2 x Stage3 x Stage4 x Stage 5
In this example, the score calculated is:
1 +
0.75 +
0.75 x 0.5 (0.375) +
0.75 x 0.5 x 0.5 (0.1875) +
0.75 x 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.25 (0.046875)
= 2.359375 (rounded off to 2.36)
Step 3
The overall assessment score is then determined by averaging the theme scores.
In this example, the overall assessment score is calculated by adding all the total theme scores and dividing by six (the number of themes), as follows:
2.36 + 1.94 + 1.33 + 1.33 + 1.33 + 1.33
÷ 6
= 1.60
